I recently went on a kick of Oatmeal and fresh berries. I add Cinnamon, Honey, fresh Berries and Almonds and dig in. Sometimes I don’t have time to make this in the morning but luckily theres a spot on the way to work were I can get the same thing in Quinoa form. I took a chance and tried it, now I’m in trouble, I fell in love and want it everyday! Sometimes I order it for lunch and even dinner. Their’s contains Cinnamon, agave nectar, quinoa, strawberries, blueberries and almond slivers. Mmmm, I must try this with Pecans!!!! This even works as desert, or a snack!

Snack-aroo [Flatbread]

From a vegan cookbook, Venture some vegan cooking. . .
  • 1  1/2 cups of unbleached flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

Combine with wooden spoon.

Knead.

On flour surface knead 1 min., roll into log.

Cut in 6 – 8 pieces.

Roll each one out flat.

Pan fry with smallest dab of oil.

* I  will try to bake mine next time, the book suggests a grill as well.

This whole thing takes 10 or 15 minutes, why not try it?

You probably already have the ingredients.

Something Old & Something New [Beef Salad]

Beef Salad

Old:  Last piece of beef from the Roast

Take the Roast and place it in a bowl, shred with two forks

New: Salad

Combine Lettuce & Cucumber in a bowl already containing your Dressing.

Turn the salad around in the bowl to coat.

Add Sauteed Onion, Mushrooms and bacon.

Add half an Avacado.

Done.

My Journey, Ahem, My adventure to eat healthier began today. Officially. I have Committed to nourishing and protecting my body.

After much thought and consideration I have bought my first batch of organic grocieries. What did I get? Take a gander below:

The Green Grocer Chicago is awesome, friendly knowledgeable staff location is great parking was easy for me. What more can I ask???
Food that goes beyond the sell by date gets put on a cute table with a sign that says “Free, Honest”.  Loaves of french bread, veggies, you name it.

Kewl huh? I came home rinsed the plump  strawberries and popped one in my mouth. Why have I never had the pleasure of tasting you Mr. Strawberry? WHY!???!?

I have never tasted anything like it. *Cough* I ate half the pack. Every single bite of every single berry was sensuously delightful. They danced on my tongue.


Not Right, not right for the world to hide this burst of flavor from me my whole life. This experience coupled with the farmers market in the UIC parking lot has changed everything. That sounds dirty. Well, it was. Non-organic fruit has no flavor, grey,bland,picture cut outs from children’s colouring books bland! Never again Jewel! You cant have my money or hijack my tastebuds!!!
